If you think that active noise cancellation (ANC) is out of your reach because you can't afford super fancy Bose or Sony headphones, think again. With the Tribit QuietPlus ANC Headphones, you can not only afford active noise cancellation, but get a pretty terrific pair of headphones to boot! From sound to materials, design to affordability, there's lots to like about these.
Tech expert Dave Taylor of https://www.AskDaveTaylor.com/ checks out the Tribit QuietPlus ANC Headphones and finds some issues too, however, most notably with the design. Watch the review to find out what you should know before you buy a pair...

Active noise canceling for under a hundred bucks? Let's check these out
0:04
Hey, oh, Dave Taylor here and I'm listening to and looking at these. These
0:18
are the Tribit Quiet Plus ANC headphones and they are pretty darn nice, actually
0:24
We'll start right out with the physical components. They have a soft cushion on
0:29
the top and a hard headband and they expand to adjust to your head. They don't
0:36
twist this way very much at all, but there's a little bit of play there. And
0:40
of course, you put them over your head. I usually just then push the headband down
0:45
just a little bit. Good to go, right? Now, when you want to travel, you can also
0:51
fold them up so they can go like that. Not too bad. Comes with a big honkin
0:56
carrying case. We'll come back to the carrying case in a minute. So, active
1:01
noise canceling. This actually is a pretty nice feature, obviously, but let's
1:05
start with the drivers. So they have 40 millimeter drivers and it supports AAC
1:10
and APTX, so you're going to get the best sound you can out of most all
1:15
mobile devices. I have it paired with a Google Pixel 4 XL, which gives me APTX
1:20
but if you have an iPhone, you're going to be using AAC. In both cases, it's going
1:24
to sound better than just regular Bluetooth. Speaking of which, Bluetooth 5.0. And like almost all of these devices, I never mentioned this, but it's
1:33
important, if you don't want to use Bluetooth, you can use this as a corded
1:37
headphone. And because of the way they designed it, it can be corded and you
1:43
can still use active noise canceling. So that's really nice. Some of the designs
1:46
if you actually plug in the cord, it's a little plug right there, and a 3.5
1:51
millimeter wire in here. If some of the designs, if you plug in the cord, then you
1:56
don't get to use noise canceling, but this one has completely independent ANC
2:01
circuitry, so that's nice. In fact, let's take a quick tour. So on the left-hand
2:06
side, basically there's nothing. There's these two little holes on the bottom
2:11
that are for getting the sound, so we can do the active noise canceling. Never seen
2:16
headphones with so overt the holes for that, but apparently that's part of their
2:21
style and design, so we'll give them that. And on the right-hand side
2:24
conveniently right by your thumb, you're going to find that you have volume up
2:29
volume down, and power, which also doubles as pause play. And then on the lower part
2:35
you have an active noise canceling on or off. Now the downside of this design is
2:41
that while it is true you can use ANC while you're using in corded mode or
2:47
whatever, the downside is that you have to remember to turn off the ANC when
2:51
you're not using your headphones. So if you're using them in Bluetooth mode and
2:55
you turn them off, the ANC is still on, which means it will still be draining
3:00
battery. So kind of a trade-off there on the design, something worth knowing. And
3:05
then on the very bottom is a 3.5 millimeter jack, so that you can plug in
3:10
that cord or wire, and then it's USB-C for charging. And in terms of charging, you
3:16
get 30 hours of playtime on the headphones themselves. You charge by a
3:21
USB-C into any handy device. And that's about it for its sort of design. The ear
3:29
cushions are soft. I found it very comfortable to listen to for hours on
3:33
end because it sounds really, really nice. Now before I get back to the sound, let
3:39
me just say that the two things I also test is latency. So I watched a TV show
3:44
and it was perfectly in sync. There was no weirdness with the lips being off
3:48
with the sound. And I tried it for a phone call and I was really pretty
3:52
surprised. My experience generally is with devices that, you know, if you're
3:58
talking here and the device is picking up sound here, you get pretty bad phone
4:03
call. But with these, they sounded really good. The person on the other end did not
4:07
actually have any complaints, which is an unusual occurrence. So they sounded
4:11
really good on the headphones. And I actually sounded really good even though
4:15
I was literally just talking like this and probably people around me were thinking, is that dude homeless? What's going on? Why is he talking to his
4:22
headphones? So props to them for that. They're also, this has the CVC 8.0
4:28
circuitry, which helps reduce background sound, which really helps with those phone calls. I'm still not a huge fan of taking phone calls or using the voice
4:37
feature while I have my headphones on. But obviously, a lot of people don't have
4:41
that limitation and they're perfectly fine with that. And these work really
4:45
well. Now, the ANC itself gives you 35 decibels, mostly on low frequencies is
4:51
what I found. Some ANC circuitry, like on some of the Sennheiser I have, tend to
4:56
cut off a lot of the high end. But these are more like you turn them on and all
5:01
the low rumbles that you're just sort of tuning out, all of them just vanish. So
5:05
that's pretty nice. They are IPX5 water resistant, so you really shouldn't wear
5:11
these in the hot tub. But if you wear them while you're out and doing your
5:15
yard work and it starts to rain, it's not a crisis. You're probably not going to
5:18
ruin them. So I will also say, not a huge fan of the styling. If you look at the
5:24
side and stuff, it's entirely functional but a little bit boring. Maybe what they
5:30
could have done is they could have had some stickers that are exactly the right
5:33
size or some little cardboard inserts or something that would then give you a
5:37
spot of color or design or personality. They are, as I said, entirely functional
5:43
But in terms of the looks, yeah, meh. But of course it's not about the looks, it's
5:48
about the sound. And these sound really nice. I was very impressed, especially at
5:53
the price point with ANC. These actually sound really good. You get a nice rich
5:58
bass. There's a nice response across the frequency spectrum. Frequency spectrum. That's a tricky phrase. I'm gonna wait. You try
6:10
saying that. Okay? So, not so easy, right? Good soundstage, really nice reproduction
6:16
I was listening to a lot of classic jazz. Thelonious Monk and stuff like that. And
6:21
boy, it sounded just gorgeous on these. Really, really like these. And they get
6:26
nice and loud too, if that's your thing. So, lots to like about the sound. The ANC
6:31
is, I'd give it like a B or B plus maybe. So, it's not gonna blow you away
6:36
But turning that on and then putting on some music at a good volume and you really
6:41
can tune out the world around you, which of course is delightful when you're in a
6:45
noisy environment. Now, before we're done, let me just say that in the case
6:51
you will get that corded 3.5 millimeter wire if you want to use this as wired
6:57
headphones. The wire's a little bit thin. They maybe could have used something
7:02
that's more of like a braided cord to give you a little bit better feel
7:06
Whatever. Paperwork. And then somewhere in here, here we go, is a small charging
7:13
cord for USB-C. So, you get all that in this case. And of course, the headphones
7:18
themselves will fit perfectly well in here with all this stuff. So, you are good
7:24
to go on your adventures. It is, however, a pretty hefty package. So, if you prefer
7:30
having something a little smaller, then maybe you won't use the case
7:35
Actually, probably I'm in the minority, but I actually like cases that are more
7:39
like a drawstring silk bag or a felt bag or something like that because those are
7:44
so much smaller and easier to work with. But, the headphones will survive and they
7:50
do sound really nice and that's probably the most important thing. So, with that
7:55
I'm going to say that the only thing left to talk about is the price. But, before we
7:59
get to the price, I'm going to ask if you can subscribe to my channel. You. Yes, you
8:03
I am super honest in my reviews and I think that it's worth actually subscribing
8:09
to my channel so you can keep up. Great. Okay, these are the Tribit Quiet Plus ANC headphones and they are a remarkably modestly
8:20
priced $89.99 at Amazon.com. That is a pretty darn good deal for over-the-ear headphones
8:28
with active noise canceling and this level of sound quality. So, I definitely encourage
8:32
you to check them out. And with that, I'm going back to my music. So, let's see
8:37
They're all good and I'll just bring up some Spotify, as it turns out. And, there we go
8:45
I will catch you in my next video
