I just got a new iPod Shuffle and it’s definitely cool, but I really have no clue what all the lights mean on the unit. Can you illuminate?
I can indeed help you out with this, but first I want to direct your attention to the darn useful Apple iPod Shuffle Quick Reference Card. An informative page that can fruitfully be printed and kept with your Shuffle for reference.
Here’s a helpful table of status lights too:
|solid orange||charging, okay to disconnect|
|solid green||fully charged, okay to disconnect, or in “play” mode|
|flashing orange||mounted, do not disconnect|
|flashing green||paused (light turns off after one minute)|
|solid orange when you press a button||“hold” is enabled (disable by pressing the “play” button for three seconds)|
|solid green when you press a button||normal Shuffle operation, nothing to worry about|
|blinking green and orange||Trying to play a song, but there aren’t any songs on the Shuffle|
There’s also a light that indicates your battery state, but that’s pretty easy to decipher: green = good charge, amber/yellow = low charge, red = very low charge and off, well, you can guess that one.
Hope that helps you get the most out of your Shuffle!
