Back in December I posted a very positive review of the Sol Republic “Deck” Bluetooth speaker. With its voice-based menu system, super cool design and terrific sound, it’s an absolute winner and remains my favorite speaker of all those we’ve had a chance to audition at AskDaveTaylor HQ.
There are a number of really cool features with the Sol Republic Deck speaker that are worth noting too, including the multi-source “Heist” mode, but I’ll let let the company itself describe the speaker because they have particularly good ad copy too:
“Powered by 360° full sound, DECK sounds great from anywhere in the room. And the super-power wireless feature gives you up to 300 feet of freedom to stay connected and play DJ while roaming the party.
“DECK’s most exciting feature might be HEIST MODE, which allows as many as FIVE people to pair at once and take turns controlling the music. Share your latest great music finds, stop your friends from playing bad tunes, or transform the party from a Barry Manilow love fest into a Deadmau5 riot.”
I don’t know about the Barry Manilow part, but I really like the Deck unit that we have in the office. Then again, if it were constantly playing a medley of Manilow songs it might be a bit less popular.
My teens like the bluetooth Deck speaker so much that it’s a constant battle for them not to heist the unit itself, never for it to be seen again. Life with teens, alas. And when they saw the yellow unit? Madness!
Here’s the good news: I’m hosting a giveaway for a brand new Sol Republic DECK speaker in your choice of color. I have two now, actually, the yellow (kind of a funky greenish yellow) and the black. I really want the red one too, but that’ll have to wait for another opportunity! But you aren’t going to win one of mine, you’re going to win a brand new unit shipped directly from Sol Republic.
The drawing is going to be held on Monday, 2 September, 2014, so if you’d like to enter, please do so before then!
I’ll then cull them all of your witty definitions from Twitter, pick the winner, check that you’re following me, then announce it both on Twitter and here on the blog.
Easy enough, right?
And to get things started, here’s my definition:
Digitally Enhanced (music) Channel, Kewl!
Yeah, I cheated. You can too. Just have fun with it!
Now have at it!
ps: Can’t think of a great definition or just missed out on winning? You can pick up a DECK speaker online too. Easy enough!
And a tip: If you’re someone who’s a Sol Republic fanatic and enters every one of their popular giveaways please be aware that they enforce a cap of one win per six months, even across blogs and other Web sites. You’re still welcome to enter and demonstrate your sharp wit, of course, but that might adversely impact your chances of actually winning. Just FYI.
